What it is

Paintbox is a browser-first raster editor. It has the layers, masks, selections and brushes you would expect, and you can describe an outcome in words when that is faster than driving a control.

The document stores the intent behind each edit as well as the pixels, so a reviewer can open a link and ask what changed between two versions, and why, without touching a layer panel. The engine is written in Rust and runs in the browser as WebAssembly, with 27 blend modes and six built-in develop presets.

Where Bike4Mind fits

Bike4Mind is the AI backbone. Paintbox signs users in through Bike4Mind, and its background jobs call the Bike4Mind API for completions, image generation and editing, transcription and speech. Paintbox also runs an MCP server, so an agent can propose an edit, such as applying a develop preset, that waits in the document for you to accept.
